Skincare Routine: Cleansing

After over a year and a half of embarking on the skincare journey, I found that cleansing is the most important part of the skincare routine. In some beauty blogs they talked about double cleansing but in my experience, even with double cleansing, my face is still dirty when I applied toner using a pad. So here is what I used in order to get my face perfectly clean.

  1. Makeup remover or facial wipes: to remove the make up, mascara and eye liner. You can skip this stage if you did not put on makeup.
  2. Oil cleanser: to remove traces of makeup or sunscreen. I prefer washing with warm water to help open the pores for deep cleansing.
  3. Cleansing water or micellar water: I found that using oil cleanser is still haven’t give me a satisfying results, so wiping my face with these cleansing water helps lifts away extra dirt.
  4. Foam/gel/cream cleansers: using these cleansers to remove water-soluble impurities. It is best if you use either a hand held facial brush or electric face washer. It helps with extra cleaning than using your fingers alone. Finally I washed my face again with cold water to help close and tighten the pores.
  5. Exfoliating: I use facial exfoliators or scrubs 1-2 times a week to remove flaky or dead skin cells. This physical skin removal gives a cleaner skin and provide space new cells to surface.
  6. Facial peel: physical exfoliation sometimes is not enough to remove dead skin cells. I need to use chemical peel 1-2 times a week to achieve the desired results.
  7. Derma roller: this to help the regeneration of new skin cells as well as aid the absorption of other treatments like serum and creams.

I have found that my skin is much cleaner. This can be observed when I applied the toner, I no longer see the brown colour on the cotton pad. It seems excessive but it is very good in prevention of acne and pimple outbreaks as it does not clog your pores. I have many complements from family and friends since I started to take care of my skin.
